On June 2nd, an unexpected flash flood caused a disruption in the water supply line from the Kalatuwawa Water Treatment Plant near the Wak Oya Bridge in Thummodara.
The National Water Supply and Drainage Board were quick enough to prevent inconvenience to consumers by supplying water through an alternative parallel water line while working to restore the main pipeline. This was a challenging operation, with workers fighting heavy rains and harsh conditions to begin repairs near the Wak Oya Bridge. The pipeline was fully restored in less than a month thanks to the diligent work of the Water Board employees and contractors.
While visiting the site, Eng. Barathithasan, the General Manager of the National Water Supply & Drainage Board, is seen expressing gratitude to the officials and workers who put in a great deal of labor to attain this goal.
