As per the 2023 Policy of the Government of Sri Lanka, the price of safe drinking water provided to the people is fixed on the basis of covering the cost of production.
Accordingly, since the National Water Supply & Drainage Board has planned to revise the water tariff to cover the cost of producing a unit of drinking water relative to the tariff revision of the Ceylon Electricity Board from 16.07.2024, a descriptive study has been carried out to see the possibility of providing benefits to the consumers. Please note that after getting the necessary approval based on the study, the public will be made aware about the new water tariff revision.
